The Confederate battle flag

[The Confederate battle flag, called the "Southern Cross" or the cross of St. Andrew, has been described variously as a proud emblem of Southern heritage and as a shameful reminder of slavery and segregation. In the past, several Southern states flew the Confederate battle flag along with the U.S. and state flags over their statehouses. Others incorporated the controversial symbol into the design of their state flags. The Confederate battle flag has also been appropriated by the Ku Klux Klan and other racist hate groups. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, more than 500 extremist groups use the Southern Cross as one of their symbols.]

That last statement is the point my friends. The good old Confederate flag IS used as a symbol of hate.
This enduring symbol of white racists pride is supposedly misunderstood. In fact some blacks actually defend the right to display it. Some whites say its a reminder of their heritage. Most young whites who wear or display the flag do not know shit about its origins nor do they care. If it is a reminder of your so called heritage, then let me peep you on something YOU FUCKEN LOST THE WAR IDIOTS!
Since when do we display the flag of the losing side on our gubment buildings?
Now people like Howard Dean supports those Confederate flag waving rednecks
["I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks," the former Vermont governor said in an interview published in the Des Moines Register. "We can't beat George Bush unless we appeal to a broad cross-section of Democrats."]
Stated early in the election campaign.
Jackass Dean also said in a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus [“the Republican National Committee could only get "this many people of color in a single room...if they had the hotel staff in here."] Ah Democrats dey is the craziest peoples!
But I digress.
No Snoop does not like the flag. It is an enduring symbol of racists bullshit that we should be leaving behind. If you want to show your true racists colors go ahead and fly it on your pickup or wear it proudly on your shirt. Its good to be able to see a racist bastard coming from afar. So many white people choose to hide their racists tendencies. I guess at least rednecks are not afraid to display it.
But as you can see Snoop co-opted your racists symbol and adapted it.
Fly that on your fucken truck!

The confederate flag has no place on government property.......anywhere, anytime or anyplace. If folks want to display it on their personal property.....that's there choice and freedom in this country. Whenever I see that flag I am reminded of my own southern heritage. I grew up in Georgia in the 60's and I have never felt comfortable when I see that flag. My great grandfather and his brother both fought for the confederate side. They died at Gettysburg and Sharpsberg. They never owned slaves they where to damn poor. They didn't even have shoes when they were in the confederate service. It took me a long time to come to terms with my families participation in the civil war but I have. It was a different time and a different set of beliefs. This is NOW and the confederate flags must come down.

best wishes marie
Your neighborhood Democrat! :)

This symbol is not unlike many others. It is what we make of it. For example, a wedding ring. To some it is an outward sign of a precious vow and relationship, worn with pride and reverance. To others, it is a societal necessity or pretty bauble that has no symbolic or actual importance in their lives. One person can look at a wedding ring (or flag) and it tells them a whole story, while another person (even the one wearing the ring or flying the flag) hasn't a clue as to that story. Symbols are important. But they don't mean the same things to all people. Perhaps that is why they have so much power to hurt or to help.

I used to lived in a southern state where I used to see that damn flag all the time, having gotten to know a few "necks" they seem ok, at least to my face, they flew the flag on their cars, motorcycles whatever, it was something they did, you never get used to it, but kinda tune it out, but when a car has New York or Maine or California plates and they fly the flag, that is a problem, these fuckers are racist, without a doubt, what do they know about southern heritage, they are from the beach, or cold ass maine, get real, They lost the war, get over it, you don't see other countries still talking about heritage, the Nazis(well, maybe bad example) . Plus what is this entire re-enactment shit about, you don't see us running thru the jungles of the Philipines chasing Japanese soldiers, or re-enacting Hamburger Hill in Vietnam
or the Alamo over and over and over again, lets re-enact the dropping of the a-bomb, people will really get a kick out of that, I kinda got away from the subject, but this re-enactment shit is crazy. Lets re-enact Custer getting his ass kicked, or
how about Nat Turner running thru Virginia fucking people up. I am quite sure people would sign up for that, pure entertainment for sure.
Anyway back to the point
the Confederate flag is fucked, a lot of schools in the south has banned it
